A Fisherman’s Story at Kampung Nelayan Pantai Kelanang is part of our new cultural immersion program, Our World, Our Stories, where children learn about humanity, traditions, and diverse ways of life through real experiences and hands-on activities.
In this chapter, children will discover the daily life of coastal communities as they experience traditional fishing methods, learn about marine ecosystems, and listen to stories passed down through generations. Children will try fishing using nets at the mangrove riverside, head out to sea to cast nets the traditional way, and enjoy a guided boat ride to explore the unique beach landscapes along Pantai Kelanang. Once back on shore, they will learn about different fish species, dissect a fish to learn its anatomy, understand the importance of protecting marine habitats, and the meaningful role fishermen play in sustaining coastal life.
This program aims to cultivate empathy, cultural appreciation, and a deeper understanding of the people who depend on the sea. Through real-life experiences, we hope children gain an appreciation for humanity, nature, and the diverse stories that make up our world.
