Exploring Pulau Ketam is part of our cultural immersion series, Our World, Our Stories, where children learn about humanity, community traditions, and sustainable ways of living through direct experiences.
In this program, children visit Pulau Ketam to witness life in a stilt village, discover how villagers adapt to their environment, and understand the customs, work, and daily routines that sustain a community built over water. Children will explore the stilt houses, observe daily fishing and aquaculture practices, try hands-on activities with local tools, and experience the close relationship the villagers have with the river and sea. Through guided activities and storytelling, children will gain insight into how communities survive and thrive in unique environments while preserving their cultural heritage.
This program aims to cultivate respect, curiosity, and appreciation for Malaysia’s coastal communities. Through immersion and observation, children learn how people adapt, cooperate, and build meaningful connections with their surroundings.
